Stone Ridge Kennel is a small, family-operated breeding program in Ontario, Canada, dedicated to producing healthy, well-tempered German Shepherds and Chihuahuas for companion, sport, and working homes.
Our Story
Where It All Began
Stone Ridge Kennel was founded on a simple belief: that every dog deserves a healthy start, and every family deserves a dog they can trust. What began as a lifelong passion for the German Shepherd breed has grown into a thoughtful, multi-breed program that holds health testing, temperament, and structure above all else.
Our kennel sits on a quiet rural property in Ontario, where our dogs live as part of the family — not in kennels or runs, but in our home, on our land, and in our lives. This environment shapes who they are: confident, social, and deeply bonded to people.
Over the years we added the Chihuahua to our program, drawn by the breed's intelligence, loyalty, and adaptability. Though vastly different in size, both breeds share the qualities we value most: sound nerves, a willing temperament, and a strong connection to their people.

What We Stand For
Health First
Every breeding decision begins with health data. We do not breed dogs without full OFA clearances and breed-specific genetic testing. A beautiful dog that suffers is not a success.
Temperament Over Trend
We breed for stable, trainable, confident temperaments — not for colour, size, or what's fashionable. A dog's character is its most important trait.
Lifetime Commitment
Our responsibility to every puppy we produce does not end at the door. We are available to our puppy families for the life of the dog — for questions, guidance, and support.
Selective Placement
We take the time to match each puppy to the right home. We would rather wait for the right family than place a puppy quickly with the wrong one.

We believe transparency in health testing is a non-negotiable standard for responsible breeding. All of our breeding dogs are tested and cleared before any litter is planned.

Early Development
How We Raise Our Puppies
The first eight weeks of a puppy's life are the most formative. Our early development program is structured, intentional, and grounded in science.
Weeks 1–2
Early Neurological Stimulation
We perform the Bio Sensor (Super Dog) protocol daily — gentle handling exercises that build stress tolerance, cardiovascular strength, and neurological resilience.
Weeks 3–4
Sensory Introduction
Puppies begin exploring novel surfaces, sounds, and objects. Early exposure to household sounds, different textures, and gentle handling by multiple people begins here.
Weeks 5–6
Socialization & Enrichment
Structured play, problem-solving toys, and regular handling by family members — including children — build confidence and adaptability.
Weeks 7–8
Temperament Assessment & Placement
We conduct individual temperament evaluations to guide placement decisions. Puppies receive their first vaccination, deworming, and veterinary health check before going home.
